Hey ppl
IQBAl.......me and my friends went to its first day show bunking college just to watch this movie......some reasons were :
1.kuknoor
2.nasiruddin shah
3.cricket !!!!!!!!!!!...what else do u ask for ??????????????
Let me explain..If u ppl would be noticing that kuknoor for past some time has turned quiet a high class experimental movie maker..his last few projects like ROCKFORD, TEEN DEEWEREIN , HYDRABAD BLUES both I & II..hav been quiet well recieved......thats because they were real , pratical and to ground..its like someone is shooting real life !!!!!!!!!!!....but iqubal comes on a bigger platform more budget yet holds on its strong story line & cast which is admirable......in the time when bollywood movies are nothin but junk entertainers this stands tall.............
The story revolves around a boy who comes from a poor farmer family in south (andhra pradesh I guess typical kuknoor style all south based films !!!!!!!).....as any normal indian teenager he has a liking for cricket......(Now no matter what ne thing related to cricket is well recieved by indians !!!!!!!!)
The boy sure has got a hitch for a bowler as he practises bowling using sticks as stumps and a ball..he sneeks for lessons in the coaching school run by girish karnad (another great actor!!!!!)...so one day he gets a chance into the academy for playing cricket free.. but being deaf and dumb is bullied by rich brats there and thrown out in a controversy with one of them.....then he comes to know abt naseeruddhin shah..an ex-spinner for indian team..who was dropped out of indian team due to politics of girish karnad & currently is trying to die getting drunk !!!!!!!.....so it happens naseer teaches him bowling..and somehow gets him to play for andhra team (I am not sure abt team name but its local cricket)....the boy plays well baging tons of wickets as a new comer in the state tournaments......
Then in finals there comes a news that some selectors are gonna come to select players for indian team.....this is the boys chance..but girish has a upper hand as he knows the judges well an tries to persuade them to take one of his students !!!!!!!!!!..will he make it or fail and crash ......thats for u to watch......!!!!!!!!!!!! the movie is superbly directed good locations simple yet effective..nothing is been comprimised.....
Cast is small hence rich ...naseruddhin as always AWSOME natural genious in his acting....actually to be frank he steals the limelight from everyone......good music track just one but nicely backgrounded....overall..a promising tale.....effectively told..inspiring projected....a must watch for all especially youngsters to make them believe ’’try and try but dont cry’’.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
