Just Around the Corner, a self-service joint located in a Bandra by-lane, (as well as in Churchgate) is just not value for money.
I say that cause the prices are too high, food quantity too less, and to top it, high taxes are added to the price!
Quality of food is just OK. No big deal here.
For instance, a cottage cheese sandwich costs Rs.60/- (thats over a year ago, must be higher now!). The taste was good, but nothing extraordinary, hence the price is not justified I feel. I mean, come on, imagine paying Rs.60/- (+?) for a simple 2-slice veg. sandwich! Do they think they are a 4- or 5-star hotel?!
A plate of Salad costs Rs.125/- (!!) and if you feel like replenishing your plate, instead of stuffing it in the first go, then you end up paying once again, yes, thats Rs.125/- once again!
So unless you already know of this, you are fleeced in the most sophisticated way.
Btw, the salads arent as great as they are made out to be.
Also, since you have to mix-and-match to make up your salad, you feel like trying a couple of combinations, so I feel a second helping at least (if not third) should be allowed within the same rate.
Surprisingly, the desserts like pastries and brownies are value for money. Priced right at Rs.30/- to Rs.50/- (on par with other joints in Bandra) and also delicious. But again, they add taxes to these too, when you go to the cash counter to pay for it.
This is one of the worst things that I have heard many of my friends complain about with regards to JATC. Similar experiences makes them decide not to visit this place again, or if at all, then maybe 2-3 years later, but definitely not as a regular-kind of place.
All the same, its got a great ambience. Very leisurely and a good place to hang out. But at the cost of a good hole in your pocket and still feeling hungry...
