Yes , it can be said that Rajesh Khannas avtaar in the 21st century being SRK. Or one can also say Anand of the 70s meets Kal Ho Na Ho of today. Karan Johar very aptly explores that aspect of Anand which Hrishikesh Mukerjee didnt explore(or may be didnt want to!) i.e the love angle.Anand is all about Anand and his lumposycoma..or whatever of the intestine that Anand carries and his relation with his Doctor.Kal Ho Na Ho is more about the sacrifice that Mr Aman Mathur(SRK) makes for that love. Well the story goes something like this...Naina Catherine Kapoor(Preity Zinta) stays in New York with her mom Jennifer(Jaya Bachchan) and slogs to meets two ends meet.He life is all work and no play and has also to take care of her brother and sister. She comes home to a old nagging grandmother. She has a past which haunts her too...Life cant get worse. Aman Mathur and his best buddy Rohit(Saif) decide to add some colour to Nainas life and thus starts the story of love and heartbreak . Aman unlike Rajesh Khanna in Anand hides the fact that he is dying from both of them. The suprsise of the movie is Preitys perfomance , she steals the show inspite of it being an out an our SRK movie. SRK in the last couple of years (Mohobatein and K3G) seems to be matering the art of emotion and emotion hiding, but ot his credit it must be said that comes out in flying colours. Karan Johar suceeds in making you leave the cinema halls for a second with wet handkerchiefs. All said and done though it is a good film , it does not touch you to the heart as Anand did.Anand was a more down o earth movie while KHNH feels more commercial
