I have bought Karbonn Smart Tab 1 yesterday and will return it back to Vijay Sales today. The sales person at Vijay Sales told me that it has 4 GB internal memory, blue tooth and I can download lakhs of android applications and use this unit for yahoo messenger, skype and for transferring files between this unit and my desktop computer. None of this was correct. He had misguided me. Blue tooth is not present, only 1 GB internal memory, skype and yahoo messenger do not operate on this unit. You cannot download any android applications as it shows error and the downloaded applications do not open. So are just left with 3-4 games applications that come prestalled.
The Karbon Smart Tab 1 is just good for its looks and for web browsing. The battery back up is good and it works for about 5 hours with wifi use. But spending Rs 7, 000 for a unit just for web browsing is no value for money. There is no connectivity with dongle for net surfing. So, you cannot use it when wifi is not there. There is no GPRS as no SIM. It does not even read from pen drive. There are many cheaper tabs costing Rs 4, 500 available on ebay if you need to use only for browsing and not for running any applications. Better avoid buying the unit if you are looking for unitilising android market applications and using it for skype and chat.
When you are buying a tablet, keep in mind the following:
1) It should have at least 1 GB of RAM else after few days when you have downloaded many applications, the unit will become slow.
2) It should have USB port for connection to PC.
3) Not all external modems work on tablets, so make this point very clear as to which modem will work with your tab.
4) Many tabs do not have access to all the android applications from the android market, so check this else you will be left with limited applications.
