Kasauti Zindagi Ki
This magical trio has been part and parcel of many families like that of mine for many years now. At least I can claim that I am quite a regular viewer of this Mon-Thu Ekta Kapoor soap on STAR Plus. Well, I’m not basically an admirer of many things, and not I am of this one too! Then this question arises - why many Indian women and especially men(like me) have been watching this yet another soap from the K Brigade of Balaji Telefilms? Why has it got all of us hooked? Why don’t we want to leave it, even when it offers nothing but ghisi-piti story? The answer I’ll give in later part of the review.
Basic Idea
The whole story for the past three years has been revolving around two lovers - Anurag Basu(Cezzanne Khan) and Prerna Sharma(Shweta Tiwari). Their dads(and, apparently, they also) know each other for many-many years now. Gradually, Prerna and Anurag fell in love with each other, and sometimes got married, other times departed, sometimes married someone else(HeHeHeHe wink!)! As in all Ekta Kapoor serials, the story is dragging and involves many chracters and their own stories.
The current story
Now, Anurag and Prerna have met after 8 long years. And, THEY HATE EACH OTHER. Sneha, Prerna’s daughter had recently been quite attached to Anurag ’Uncle’, and when Prerna comes to know this she tries to take her away from her Dad. Also, Prerna has been engaged to Mr. Bajaj!
The characters I like the most
Though everone acts nicely, these are my fav characters :
Prerna : Shweta Tiwari plays this female lead role, and acts superbly. She’s smart, and delivers a natural acting. She has already found her place on the silver screen. She handles emotional scenes with the utmost elegance. And, for the character she plays, she is one of the most successful women of today. She is partially handling her BTN Channel, and would never want to lose anything to Anurag. Anurag is her ex-husband, and she thinks he is responsible for their son Prem’s death.
Mr. Bajaj : Played by Ronit Roy, this is a powerful character. Roy has a smart and good personality, and acts according to his role. His character: Mr. Rishabh Bajaj has long been in love with Prerna, but his love has never been reciprocated. Finally, recently only, he has got engaged to Prerna due to strange circumstances and situations. Check him out.
Komolika : Urvashi playes this role of a wamp. I think she is one of the most graceful, and stylish, and ’musical’ negative character on TV today. Her acting gives a sense of dignity, and her wardrobe is something to be noticed. Well, the character of Komolika Basu is totally negative. One can always catch her making wicked plans, and playing tricks against the Basu family. You know what, she has married three times! Her background music is just fantabulous. Her screen presence is accompanied by a graceful ’NIKA’, and you’ve got to check it out.
Why is it a hit?
I think it’s major plus points are -
Its direction with great camera effects.
Script, which has many things to offer out of a boring story line. Kudos to Ekta!
Music. Yep, the music is touching and the voice of Babul Supriyo is worth a mention. Small songs within the serial with flashbacks are quite good.
Finally, check it out if you haven’t till yet. The time is 8.30 pm Mon-Thu on STAR Plus. In the first paragraph I’ve written that I’m not an admirer of this serial, and that’s simply because it belongs to the great K Brigade. All its serials are dragging(including KZK), and usually do not seem to have any head or feet. But we still see them, and that’s because we are entertained by their dresses, their music, their performances, their drama, and their tears. We laugh with them, cry with them and talk about them, don’t we?
