I used to be a big time fan of Napster and was heart broken when it shut down. I have never paused to look into the moral obligations of downloading free music (though am a bit scared about the legal issues now) but according to me the pros of free downloads are far more than the cons.
Imagine wanting to hear the music of the latest bollywood movie but not being able to walk out and get a cassette or a CD (yes I live in HK and we don?t have this luxury)
Imagine just liking one song in the entire soundtrack and having to buy/listen the whole soundtrack (unless of course you wait till you can get a customized CD made)
Imagine badly wanting an English song from the 50?s or 60?s only to find that they don?t produce it anymore.
Imagine being a die hard Friends/Sex and the city fan but being able to see the episodes only after they are an year old
All these problems are solved by soft wares like kazaa (though I don?t know many others like this one, maybe I do know but just ignore them :):)) With Kazaa I have been able to download loads and loads of songs. I have watched all seasons (yes all 10) of Friends and Sex and the city just by using this amazing tool. Old black and white Alfred Hitchcock movies not easily available here are easy access using kazaa. I have used it to download Disney movies for my niece and could even find MS software like windows 2000 available for download.
The interface of kazaa is absolutely user friendly and I find the advanced search function a great boon. You can search my artist, album, song/movie name. You can search by genre, just to name a few options.
I just wish Kazaa never shuts down and I have good news for you, kazaa has a new product Skype. It is a free and simple software that will enable you to make free calls anywhere in the world in minutes. (yes its true they are free) but ill write a separate review for that. For all you impatient people go check out https://skype.com/
