Kent RO Excell Plus Water Purifier

Good Concept; Bad Engineering

We bought the Kent RO Purifier system after considerable research. We liked the under the counter model that can be neatly tucked away from the kitchen top.


However, the product has engineering flaws. The cylinders that house the filters either leaks or bursts open (yep !! It did). Privately the service men agree that there has been many complaints on this model.


Kent R O Service is out-sourced to local distributors. Distributors don’t have the know-how to resolve this kind of problems. They pass the buck to Kent R O and say please speak to Kent Managers.


This may not be the fast moving model and spares will be hard to come by.They are replacing the cylinders and my waiting number is about 16 in my service area.


Service men are not interested in your problem. They want sell AMC or replacement filters. First question they ask if the product is under warranty without even looking where the problem is.


Finally this is a good concept and badly engineered product.


== Detailed Problem ==


After about 10 months of use, we noticed that water was collecting under the counter. After ruling out other sources, we discovered that the middle cylinder was leaking water. We called for Kent R O local service representative. There was a series of visits from then to now without resolving the issue.




  1. [0 week] Tightened the middle cylinder a bit .- unresolved




  2. [~1 week] Opened and tightened the cylinder - unresolved.




  3. [~2 week] Opened and tightened the cylinder - worsened - it was flooding twice as fast.




  4. [~4 week] Requested and replaced the 3 cylinders with a smaller sized one claiming a design problem - the first cylinder burst open within 45 mins apparently due to water pressure.






[~5 week] fixed the first cylinder again - the middle cylinder burst open - flooding my kitchen and hall overnight.


[~6 week] another visit by Kent R O service men - no resolution yet.


They have gone back to find out what to do...
