Ok...Let’s see...One thing at a time...
The Concept: What were they thinking when they made the series? Well it was just jumping on the game show bandwagon. KBC made huge money and history as well. And STAR wanted more. None else could match the karisma of BigB with lesser starts though they threw away money right left and middle. So, STAR though why not use a star(?) who has much lesser standing(better if no standing at all). SO they searched. And at one stage were thinking of Shekhar Suman. But even Shekhar appeared to be too big a star to risk his image and reputation.
So the think tank (lets agree to call it that though it makes no sense since neither are they a tank and they definitely dont think) decided upon Aman Verma. This way neither the think tank nor the channel nor the audience have to lose anything. It could be always blamed on the fact no one can match BigB.
That is about all the concept they needed to go on with the game show. Trivial things like how the game was supposed to be played and how interesting it was were not given much thought (?).
But this time STAR decided that the target had to include the kids and the housewives (these days their rule has expanded beyond the house...and into the TV...poor husbands). So, the contestants and the forma twas arrived at. With lots of crazy looking ppl with crazy outfits. And the crazy game(lets agree to call it a game as well)
The Outcome: Well the outcome was a game that makes no sense to anybody except the housewives...somewhere down the line the kids were forgotten.
There are doors and windows on the stage of the game. This has got to be the only game show that doesnt have the host/anchor on the stage. Aman Verma moves all the time among the guests. The guests, by the way are a very important part of the show. They look to be lifted straight from any of the numerous soap style serials on STAR PLUS(all the ppl in all the serials look the same...dress the same...and talk the same).
Coming back to the doors...These contain either Gifts costing more than Rs10K or tain-tain-fish(i dont know how they arrived at this phrase but going by the look on Aman Verma’s face when he mouths it I would think that it was his contribution the show). So, a participant is asked a very difficult question, like :Who is the Prime Minister of INdia - Atal Behari Vajpayee or Pink Floyd? And the intelligent participant immediately gives the answers and wins a door or window.
Then Aman tries to ’buy back’ the door/window and sometimes succeeds as well. So if the participant doesnt sell it then he has take whatever is given. If there is the gift then he takes home that...otherwise tain-tain-fish. Well every time a door/window has to open everybody has to say in chorus ’’Khul Ja SIM SIM’’ and nobody gets bored of it.
The Verdict Havent I said it already? Well if I haven’t then here’s it : NO
Note : by the way the title has got nothing to do with the review, like the show has got nothing to do with a game.
