Volume 2 and still bizarre!

Because I heard such wonderful reviews from friends on Kill Bill No 1, I saw the film. I could not understand why anyone would recommend it. Even crazier, I saw the second film, Kill Bill 2. I suppose it really depends on whom you ask for a recommendation. This film is so bizarre on so many levels, I am not sure what to think!

Knowing this is a Quentin Tarantino film is a place to begin. He has such a wild sense of imagination and has made several films that I really enjoyed, in particular From Dusk Until Dawn. So I had to keep remembering the genre. Tarantino really reaches to think outside the box and throughout, he demonstrates this as if he were writing a comic book with the sometime seemingly ’’over the top’’ characters, blood, fights, stories, scenes, soliloquies, weapons, etc. Just think, a grown up with the imagination and money to make a movie that is-OVER THE TOP. Every kid’s dream come true!

The movie, starts where the first one left off but is far more deep and less gory than the first, which is why I was more interested in what happened next. We want to know why the massacre at the wedding took place, but I had no idea of the depth of one assasin and who would care but for the interesting storyline. Simply, ’’The Bride’’ (Thurman)has a new understanding of life when she becomes a mother and holds her daughter. She wants the simple family life that she could have had, but her father, Bill (Carradine) will not allow this and will go (and has gone) to great lengths to stop her. He tells her that she cannot change her dressing, using the story of Superman and his S cape to illustrate his point.

I found the Kung Fu sequences both exhilerating and redundant. The film work was great, but the dialogue and concept was very cheesy. Again, knowing Tarantino, this is what you should expect.

I recommend this film for pure entertainment. As with any really silly movie, you really need to just appreciate the movie for what it is-entertainment. The cast is great (Michael Madsen, Samuel L Jackson, Lucy Liu, George Liu, Uma Thurman, David Carradine, Darryl Hannah and more) and I watched 2 volumes of this to the end.

That says plenty...
