I’m a software eng in B’lore. Sometime in May ’08 my wife is joining a school as Montessori Teacher and so she’s needed a scooter as public transportation in B’lore you know how is it!!!!!
We’ve booked Kinetic Sym Flyte...
Here is the story of picking the best scooter (as per me and other reviews) from the list of some vehicles which we wanted to see before making selection
Honda Activa: We started with Honda Activa...but wife couldn’t like it as it was little bulky to handle.
Honda Dio: Then she taken test drive of Honda dio...she likes it as handling was easier than Activa..But one of my neighbour complained that it skid if you try to stop on high speed. And second thing the headlight don’t move as being fixed down. And heard the horror story of Honda service guys who are not caring about their customer.
And I started reading reviews of all existing running scooter in India....
Suzuki Access 125: During review I came to know about Suzuki Access 125....I liked it by looks and even my wife likes it..but we didn’t have it test drive....But whenever on some signal I see Access125 then I was asking the guy how is the scooter..and they used to say it’s good....So I wanted to book it...but at the same moment I came to know it’s has booking period of 3-4 months...that’s horrible...Infact I asked the dealer if he can give me in week then I’ll give him 5K extra (just simply tried to bribed him as being Indian..)...but the guy start saying its not possible because of Suzuki policy. Second thing about SA125 was that it was bulky like Honda Activa and if you see they both look twin scooter. And since I wanted it for my wife it should mix and match with her and in case of Acess125 it was missing...
Hero Honda Pleasure: I came to know its good but just basic scooter, no extra fancy or setup.
Scooty PEP+: I heard no good comment about it from anyone..so discarded it.
And during this uncertain period I saw a scooter on road which was cuty cuty and looks was like pep+...And again I saw it in my office..I started getting curious about it....And guess what....It was Kinetic Sym Flyte...I started looking on site, blogs and reviews...I got good review all the place.....
So I start calling all the five dealers here in B’lore....and got the details...main thing was it was easily available....So on UGADI day I went and booked the bike by paying 5K...I don’t want to use credit card so waiting for next month to pay him all cash and get the same here.....
So when we went to showroom my wife took twice the test drive..and she liked it..handling was easy and top of it she could put on stand easily. I also taken one test drive but looks like I never have good attitude towards any scooters and thinks scooters are not for me as since begining I never liked any scooter because of phobia that they fall down on every patholes and ballancing them is tough job.And second thing that scooters are driven by either ladies or old guys. And my taste is bikes like Honda unicorn or pulser with wide &thick tyre and good pickup.
But after all review and my wife likedness....I wanted to test this FLYTE and since they are giving 3 yrs warranty that’s helped me in taking decision...Apart from that it was told to me that their service is better and they are helping people...
For me scooter or bike is good:
if it has Better Balance and Handling is easy, Hold Good while driving
Don’t skid on road (specially in rainy season) if I try to stop at once to avoid accedent.
Shouldn’t stopped in between (means don’t have to accelerator on all the time) and shouldn’t have starting problem
Mileage is good or acceptable as petrol is costly here in B’lore
Should have power to carry atleast two of the guys even on slope and make no extra sound.
*Service provided by dealer is good.
Rest other things are complimentary.....
Since I’ve got the good feedback on above front it was easy to make decision. And by our gut/experiance it was easy to get to know how the scooter is.
I would be interested in providing you guys true facts/figures..but that could be only after some time...Only thing I was apprehensive about the Kinetic name and their bad track records. And if Kinetic guys have given false review and have marketted with these blogs then I’ll be writing against the same here in blog itself...Because If I don’t get value for money I get frustrated easily....
