Well let me start by contradicting myself. I mean before seeing this movie I was expecting a real boring movie after reading all the negative MS reviews. but then one should always judge a movie from his/her own perspective and not be biased. I often do that and try to find out. I have surprised myself by saying that Kites is a wonderful movie. Even after reading all those negative reviews and having a preconceived notion that this movie wud be bakwas I still found the movie to be good. Ofcourse I was yawning at the start of the movie but as things proceeded the chemistry between the lead pair and their so called true love got me. This is something that should be felt.
Kites is a one-line story of how love transcends all barriers communication(which seems to be basic) being one of them. Agreed the proceedings are slow, but then that does not make it a bad movie. I will not go much into the storyline since there is nothing much to be put on paper rather one should feel such movies by their emotions.
Kites is a simple love story where the lead pair falls in love and goes to great lengths to sustain it. Ppl may point to references from QSQT which almost has a similar storyline(different context) and a similar ending too which was made 2 decades back, but kites is set in a entirely different context against a different background. The lead pair come from 2 different culture dont even understand what they talk but still fall in love. Its like music, good music by a keen listener is always appreciated irrespective of the language or barrier.
AnywaysBarbara is definitely Hot and not to mention that I was floored by her swesome screen presence and a dman good expressive face. She has put up a impressive performance, which I did nt expect from a firangi. Hrithik as usual is great and has acted well. Not to mention that kangana is wasted and has at best only guest appearance. The music is ok except for 1 or 2 songs. The movie is very subtle and the Indian audience in general usually fails to catch subtle messages. It has happened before too.
The reference to kites in the movie is wonderful. The "kite" soars in the sky looking free but it has strings by which its flight can be controlled. Same way the characters in the movie look free, wonderful and seem to be enjoying but theirs fate is ultimately sealed.
As they say 2 kites can never co-exist peacefully forever either one goes down or is bought down.
