KRANTI means revolution. This new movie in Bengali, I am sorry to say, wont exactly revolutionize Bengali cinema, though it could have - as it uses path-breaking hi-definition filming technology. It is the age-old revenge saga, with the simpleton collegegoer hero who is challenged by the hamming villain and his henchmen, in the backdrop of college politics - a la Ramgopal Varmas Shiva (old).
The film stars Jeet Madnani, Swastika Mukherjee, Aashish Vidyarthi, Rishi Kaushik, Alokananda Roy and Locket Chatterjee in lead roles. The film is directed by Ringo. The director, having started out on television, could have had more substance along with style (even the style part falls flat in places), but has made his debut feature go for a toss, maybe feeling wary of taking risks . The settings and locations are somewhat interesting but the songs arent. The acting is average, Jeet looks unconvincing and wooden at times. The fight sequences and staple comic situations are hackneyed, as commonly found in the mainstream Bengali films thesedays.
I am sorry that I cannot recommend this film for viewing!
