This Won't Exactly Revolutionize!

KRANTI means revolution. This new movie in Bengali, I am sorry to say, wont exactly revolutionize Bengali cinema, though it could have - as it uses path-bread more...

I think the movie 'Houseful' had received more hype than it was worth. Bappaditya Banerjee is an efficient fimmaker, no doubt. But his films suffer from tedium & over-indulgence, almost always. He also repeats his locations and themes (sometimes just the sub-plots) again and again. I don't know if read more...

Wonderful review. After a long time reading a review of yours! Even if the film is tarnished by a few blotches it deserves to be seen, right?

The pic of Debasree Roy with the hand-held mirror, decked as a bride, is from the movie 'Ashukh/ Malaise' and NOT from 'Unishe April'!!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful film. It genuinely deserves to be seen and recommended. I was touched by the raw freshness that goes hand in hand with the smart script and makes the movie eminently watchable. Maybe JTYJN is not as good a film as Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar or Jab We Met, the two films that I was reminded of w read more...
It is really a fine film. And you have done a good job of reviewing it too. The film is now available on Sony Classics. I do not think the film will be released in theaters here in Kolkata. In the near future, one of the movie channels (Star, HBO, ZeeStudio, or Pix) might pick it up though.
Thanks for revisiting this favorite film of mine. I remember having seen it for the first time when I wasn't even supposed to see it. Then probably the titillating bits were a bigger draw. But even then, I could well comprehend how this shocker of a film had managed to picturise the chilling intrigu read more...

In spite of the fact that JBB is a difficult literary work, difficult to transcreate the subtleties and the nuances of the poetic novel, I would say that the director has put some genuine effort to execute the screenplay. Though I would also liked to have seen a mature shift from a linear narration read more...

Isn't it unfair to club The Namesake under Bollywood films? Even the title looks incongruous without the definite article!! It is The Namesake (not Namesake) folks!
Wonderful review dude! But to be very honest, of all the movies with the Martin Scorsese (director) - Robert DeNiro (actor) combo, *Raging Bull* is my favorite. However, *Taxi Driver* was uninvolving for me, though it is indeed one of their gritty best. *Casino* would be my second favorite Scorsese read more...
Hello friend, once again you have written a wonderful review. I was a bit put down by some of the earlier animation films that came out of Hollywood stables of late, viz. The Wild, Madagascar, Over the Hedge, Open Season and MonsterHouse. But Happy Feet is a rare delight, as good as IceAge 2:The Mel read more...

Hi! Thanx for an awesome review. Isn't Owen Wilson really the best of the Hollywood FratPack (others include Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Adam Sandler etc)? But he loves to be in the buff, doesn't he? (P.S. I admit he looks damn cool in this flick, as well as The Big Bounce, where he drops his pants)

Thanx for the alternate take on Don! Dude, your views match with mine. I am glad that you chose to write a hatke review.

SHADOWS OF TIME did not have in Kolkata the encouraging response that it did in Europe, but that's understandable as an average Kolkatan would cringe at many a cliche and over-the-top dramatisation that is the hallmark of this film.

Though I don't dig serious movies as such, I had to see Herbert because of my girlfriend. And I seriously liked the film! Many of the current Bengali films I have seen in the recent years have left me with a heavy dose of tedium; Herbert is indeed a welcome change. The character Herbert (essayed by read more...

Hey, you were the first to post a review on the film before its nationwide commercial release and that's the reason I lapped up your take on the movie. Dying to see it in the theatres.......... the promos are enough to whet one's appetite.

Hey, wasn't this movie based on the Oscar Wilde play?

Hey, it is good to see people like you appreciating all kinds of cinema. ALAG the movie seems alag or different indeed from the run-of-the-mill Bollywood productions or rather the umpteen plagiarised versions, at least from the promos and definitely from your review that is the impression I have had read more...
Aamir Khan is indeed one of the very best of the actors in today's world. And this isn't just a hagiographer's belief, this is what the film-buffs believe in general. Notwithstanding the ire of the detractors, yours was a good review. Keep penning such reviews all the more!
