Valley under the snow

When one plans a trip to Manali, it is inevitable that one visits, passes through Kulu as well. It has all the advantages of being so near the Snow clad mountains yet being in the valley it gets more rainfall and the flora changes a bit. All the agriculture done in these parts is in the Kulu valley. The supply of vegetables and some fruits to Manali is from Kulu. Here again the river Beas is a constant companion and some of the water sport on the river is done here in Kulu rather than up in Manali. There are umpteen number of shawl making factories/shops in Kulu. These are made from Rabbits hair as well as from sheep and goats. These Rabbits are specially bred and are of a special variety ’’Angora’’ Rabbits. The shawls are at affordable prices and are attractive. The Angora variety are especially soft. The beauty of Kulu is a bit different than Manali. We had a good outing of a day in Kulu. The Naggar castle and Roerich art gallery are on tha way to

Kulu and both are worth a visit. The only improvement I would like to mention is better living conditions for the Rabbits in the Rabbit farm. I found that the space given to them is too cramped and the cages raised from the ground when in the natural habitat Rabbits like to live on the ground. I hope the managers of the Farm take note of this and do something for the betterment of lives of the animals who are the source of income for them.

All is all it was a pleasant holiday in Kulu.
