Ladghar can be approached from Mumbai, Pune and Goa through the Mumbai Goa National highway no 66.
Road from Mumbai as well as Pune through the state highways connecting the national highway 66 is all patchy and not in great condition. You cannot drive above 40-50 kmph as suddenly deep pot holes appears even in good stretch of road.
From Mumbai / Thane Ladghar is about 278 Kms following the route as follows:
Start from Mumbai . Thane 000 Km
Last CNG pump at Kamothe (Panvel) 035 Km
Kamath vegetarian restaurant 055 Km
Sai Leela vegetarian restaurant 078 Km
Vadkal Naka 080 Km (take left turn here)
Kamath Govinda on other side of road 100 Km
Khed 245 Km
Dapoli 272 Km
Ladghar 278 Km
The above route is not as good and has plenty of rough patches and pot holes to reduce your driving speed.
Another shorter route from Mumbai is 222 Km is as follows
Mumbai / Thane 000 Km
Pen 67 Km
Vadkhal Naka 70 Km
Mangaon 34 Km
Lonere (Right turn from here)
Goregaon - Nandvi - Lokervan - Madangadh - Datta nagar - Mauje
Dapoli 216 Km
Ladghar 222 Km
BUDGET HOTELS touching Ladghar beach
Ratna Sagar (02358-288244) has ROOM RATE of Rs 1000 per day. Out of all the beach touch hotels, this one has the best verabdah adjoining your room that offers full view of the Ladghar beach.
Sagar Ratna Rs 1000 per day
Sagar Sawali Rs 1800 non-ac, Cottage ac Rs 2000 + taxes. Its little away and far.
Sagar Saad Rs 1000 per day (9821147268)
Palvi beach resort (9673168855)
Chaitanya beach resort Rs 900
Pears beach resort Rs 1000
There are about 12 beach touching resorts, all adjoining each other. So, even if you are a walk in customer, you can just walk for 100 meters and approach all of them for a vacant room.
Vegetarian food and non-vegetarian food is pathetic in all of these resorts as they have Konkani style food that is very different from north indian taste. If you are a vegetarian then restrict to poha for breakfast and simple daal rice for lunch/dinnner and you will be happy.
There are no nearby restaurants so you are fully dependent on your HOTEL food. Dont try to go out in search of any restaurants as the roads are bad and so narrow that two cars cannot pass by and if you take your car to extreme sides to allow another car to pass, then the thorn bushes will scratch your car sides. Stakes are high.
At Ladghar, you get good opportunity to watch dolphins at a cheap rate of Rs 200 per person. Generally dolphins are seen very early morning between 7 am and 10 am. So, take the first boat that is supposed to start at 7 am but keeps on waiting till its filled up. This delays the boat sometimes even for one hour. The boat is safe and you are provided with life jacket. Hundreds of dolphins of all sizes will be seen jumping around and playing in the water. Dont miss this.
Paragsailing is available in the mornings and evenings only for Rs 300 per passenger. You are harnessed to a parachute and pulled by a jeep to take you t a height of about 80 meters and ground distance of 400 to 500 meters.
There are few temples around if you are interested to visit. Two days and one night is good enough for Ladghar. After spending time here you can go to Murud beach which is about 15 Kms from here and stay for another night there for another experience. Murud beach is more commercial while Ladghar beach is silent, less crowded, and serene.
Please note that there are no CNG filling station after Panvel. There is one Reliance LPG filling station at Khed and the locals do not know the difference between CNG and LPG. There are plenty of misleading notes and stories that there is CNG pump in Khed and Shreewardhan but it is not true. There are no CNG pumps from Panvel to Goa as on November 2014.
On the highway there are many good eating joints, so its advisable to eat in one of these restaurants rather than having plans to have food at Dapoli or Ladghar. Foos in Dapoli and Ladghar is just pathetic.
