I think LIC is the only honest insurance company in India. My insurance agent gave me the LIC diary during the new year and I felt happy when I read in the diary that LIC invests most of the premiums for nation building activites. Earlier I used to feel that LIC is paying very less interest on the premiums paid by me but when I read in the LIC diary as to how they invest their fund, I was happy that even my premium is used for a common and collective cause of nation building. Now I dont mind getting less interest as my money is invested in the safest areas.In the recent bomb blasts LIC was the first insurance company to reach the claimants to settle the claim. My neighbour who works at Bhagwati hospital said that LIC guys were quick in approaching the hospital authorities to find out the names of bomb blast victims admitted in the hospital. Two days after the bomb blast I saw a help desk of LIC at churchgate station. I really admire the down to earth attitude of LIC. The private insurance people talk very sweetly when they canvass a policy but when we need them later, they are never found. Last year also during the 26th july calamity, LIC was very quick in reaching out to the policyholders through various help desks and newspaper advertisements. But everyone I have spoken say that the employees in the LIC office are very lethargic and LIC has a very oldy-goldy kind of image which doesnot suit the modern generation. Some of their offices donot have even the basic amenities like a fax or internet. Thats a pity.
