I live in delhi and am using a lloyd 1 Ton split ac since last year(2011). The room size is 12x10= 120 sq ft. Initially I was a bit hesitant as no one recommended me to buy a lloyd ac and I could not find much reviews as well but as the unit was way too cheap I purchased it from Vijay sales.
The unit was delivered next day but was installed after 5-6 days. Since begining I am thinking that the air flow should have been a bit more, I have a window ac "Carrier" and it blows air like a air cooler.
Anyways apart from the air flow I havent faced any issue with the unit. I ran it approx 10 hours each day and it worked very well last season.
Power consumption - I have checked the power consumption, it takes approx 1300 watts per hour.
Cooling - The room is 120sq ft with 1 window~25sq ft shaded. No direct sunlight and is on the ground floor with a floor above. It takes approx 1 hour to bring the room temperature to 25 Deg Celcius in peak summer and then it gives 2-3 cycles per hour. I feel most comfortable in this room, which I believe is due to good humidity removal as the unit doesnot short cycle.
Features - unit has Cool, Dry and fan mode with auto settings. Auto swing up and down.
Remote Control - I had to change the battery of the remote control after using it for 4-5 months however my Carrier acs remoteis working on the same battery since last 2 years.
Noice - indoor unit is silent and outdoor doesnt make much noice either.
Service - I havent used any of the free service yet so cant comment on that.
I think the unit is VFM.

I now have a question in mind and would like to ask you guys. I saw 5000 BTU frigidair unit on their website which says that it covers 150 sq ft area. Retailers and websites in India say that we should use at least 1 Ton(12000) BTU for 120 Sq Ft, some even recommend 1.5 Ton. I am not an expert of the BTU calculations but why is there so much difference?
Is there anyone who is using 1 Ton ac in a 150+ sq ft room? I need an ac for 150 sq ft and would like to know if 1 Ton would work and the performance? I dont want to chill my room but would like it to be very comfortable with 25 Deg temp and~50% humidity. Please advise.
Thanks.
