I have been a customer of M K Ahmed’s store in Malleswaram for many years now. The main reason is the variety of products available, which is not seen in larger stores like Foodworld. Also, they used to offer good discounts, but of late, the discounts are not so attractive, compared to places like Big Bazaar. But one thing I have learnt is to be careful with this store, as sometimes they try to cheat customers.
Once, I purchased an MTR pickles pack. They had pasted their own price tag on top of the price tag. I looked at other packs and was shocked to find that the price on their sticker was more than the MRP. When I complained to the manager, he immediately apologised and said that it was a mistake. But the same rate was written on all packs, how could it be a mistake? But I thought it better to give them the benefit of doubt.
Yesterday, I had a disappointing experience at Ahmed’s. My bill was over 1000/- and I read a poster which said that for bills over 1000, a juice bottle would be given free. They did not offer to give the gift and when I asked they gave a juice bottle from some unheard of company. After I left the place, I realised that the juice tasted horrible! When I saw the manufacture date - the date was March 2008 and expiry period was 6 months. A very good scheme indeed - dispose of old and expired products by giving them as gifts!
The range of products available is the only plus-point of this store. Minuses include - Absolutely no parking space, shop floor space is less and maintenance is not so good - lots of boxes lying around making it difficult to walk around. So friends, if you are planning to visit this store - be careful, check for the expiry date of products and also watch the price tag!
