Dhoni : a tribute poem

This may not be the right forum to write poems, but Dhoni has captured my imagination to such a great extent that I could not hold back from publishing it here.

Most of you will probably criticize me for not writing a proper review out here, but then if a person of the stature of Mahinder Amarnath can burst into a Punjabi song every now and then while reviewing a cricket match and Sidhu can burst into high voltage metaphors (a particularly interesting one was the one he said today : Indian players will always be on their tiptoes like midgets in a urinal) , then why cant I write a simple poem :-) ?

This is for all those dhoni fans out there

Wind from the East : a tribute to M.S Dhoni

a wind from the east, groovy and warm

blew to the west, and raised a storm

they say its disguised in a human form

and everything it does, beats the norm

a handful of sky in his dusty hand

sound of cheer on the fervent stand

waving the bat like a wizard’s wand

he weaves an enchanted wonderland

a shepherd, honest, simple and true

he is more than just a man in blue

Over time shall his glories accrue

but for now, a promise will do

that come what may, he will always be

a shepherd by the name of MS Dhoni

after his sensational performance in the India - SL series in November 2005

thanks for your patience
