I and my family (wife and kid) stayed at Hotel Mainak, Siliguri, West Bengal for 1 night (16-May- 09) on a transit. The hotel has a large lobby, and restaurant, but that is all there apparently have to impress guests with. The rooms seem to have never been maintained well, as there were a lot of insects around. Although the food quality was not bad, the food service was exceedingly frugal, compared to every one of the hotels that we had been staying at in the preceding days.
They seem to weigh butter and jam by the milligram scale before serving, and firmly refused to be flexible. Even the bread slices were counted before serving- some breakfast indeed! We just hated their attitude on this front, and could put up with it as fortunately we stayed there just for a night and no longer. I am afraid I cant just recommend this place- they have a very poor hospitality, likely because it is a state government run hotel.
