S Cross is really a Premium Offering

I must admit that I completely mean what I have written in the title of this review. I was using an 8 year old Petrol Swift(base model) for last year & half and was planning to buy a new car for long.

One must be feeling very confused these days with the various vehicle options available in the market. I had the same confusion and could finally zero down at Maruti Suzuki based on the past experience of driving Swift. What Maruti can offer, no one else offers i.e. excellent mileage, low maintenance cost and excellent service and apart from these three factors, you can find a mechanic knowing Maruti vehicles almost in the most remotest part of the world.

After zeroing down on Maruti, I had the choice of buying from the regular stable of cars which were already tested such as Swift, Ertiga etc. or buy from Nexa. I had heard a lot about S Cross and Baleno and after my visit to the nearest Nexa dealer, I finalized my choice as S Cross. Though I was new to the concept of a crossover and never drove one, S Cross from its looks and the spacing gave me the comfort of exploring it as a serious option for buying. I must be honest to mention that I had not read any reviews of the car or discussed about the vehicle with anyone prior to my purchase. I took the test drive after paying the booking amount. To my luck the test drive was at night and it was raining. So I was driving at not so best conditions and therefore the circumstances helped me to take a real test.

I am extremely happy with the vehicle and feel that it was a right decision made by me, putting my money at this vehicle. I have driven 5700 Kms in less than 1.5 months from the purchase of the vehicle and am very happy with the performance. I wish to point down the Pros and Cons below for a quick reference -

Pros -

  • Very spacious for driver, front companion and also for the rear seats

  • Excellent head clearance(my brother is 6’4’ and could sit very comfortably)

  • Good Maneuverability, as it is a crossover you can drive it in the streets with the comfort of a hatchback

  • Stable at 120KMPH and very smooth for a diesel engine

  • Fuel Tank capacity of 48 ltrs is very good for long drives where there is no headache of refuelling mutiple times

  • Safety features such as ABS, Airbags & One touch infotainment system make the car a great offering

  • Excellent mileage, I am getting 18 KMPL

  • Strong air-conditioning with front and back defoggers

  • Good boot space and collapsible rear seats to create additional storage space

  • Lot of space to keep water bottles and other items

  • Low maintenance costs(though I am still in free service period, buying a Maruti ensures that the maintenance cost if any is always very low)

Cons -

Till date I have found none, so would update it only when I drive more

I would recommend this vehicle for a buy and wish happy driving to all the owners!
