Flawless movie.

Masoom to me is one movie that is absolutely flawless..there is not a single thing I would change about it. The movie is based on a very average book called Man, Woman, and Child....but what Shekhar Kapur’s done with the movie, far surpasses anything Erich Segal portrayed in his book.

The movie examines the delicate relationship between a husband and a wife, parents and children, between siblings.....Masoom is all about relationships. One can identify with all the characters in the movie. I watched this movie as a child and have seen it as a grown up.....I can appreciate the movie far better now, but the fact that I enjoyed it just as much when I was a kid, speaks volumes for Shekhar Kapur the director, for making a film that is both meaningful and entertaining. To me, it is his best film yet...and I have seen all his films, including the regrettable Joshilay, and the overhyped Elisabeth/Bandit Queen.

I cant even begin to comment on the performances of all the actors...they were all so good that words fail me. The music in Masoom is timeless and suited the film to a T. Even the background music (can still hear the music that plays when Naseruddin Shah is looking for Jugal Hansraj on the streets of Delhi in my head) is superb.

I cant believe there is anyone out there who hasn’t watched this movie...but if there is, please do watch it....in fact, buy the DVD, for this is one movie you can watch over and over.
