Hi, this is balaji. Iam an ardent fan of watching movies that provide me a 100% ’’entertainment’’. But I do watch off-beat films. When I watched the movie ’’maayavi’’, I could not understand the fact why this movie was taken?? I hope the director as taken this venture , just for 2 facts, .
One is to bring surya and jo together and the other is to show us the real voice of jo. With the label of ’’entertainment’’ one cannot take any sort of masala movies. I would like to recall the status of ’’BABA’’ , the movie that proved to be a check even for THE KING OF SOUTH INDIAN FILM INDUSTRY, rajnikanth.
Moreover 5 songs, 2 fights, comedy and emotions may well go with vijay, vikram or kamal but not with surya. He must not have created a hype with his change in ’getups’. Just for name sake surya has changed his appearence, but it has no reason with his character unlike our chiyaan or ulaga naayagan.
In Maayavi, surya resembles surya of ’’pithamagan’’. So when I expected something from the ’’getup’’ changed surya as said by the team MAAYAVI, I got totally annoyed. Surya is talking Puch lines like ’’yaaru yaarukuda Potti, naan yaarukkum Potti illa , yenakku yaarum Potti illa’’ which is totally irrelevant to the context.
When surya has decided to render such sort of dialogues he should be sure that the dialogs are apt to the context alike rajni’s or vijay’s or chiyaan’s.
In one context he again says ’’Naan intha tumbler maathri yenna yaarum azhikka mudiyathu’’(having a non-biodegradable plastic tumbler in his hand’’). In the other side, the performance from surya is increasing from film to film.
Even in MAAYAVI, he has displayed a very good body language, but this does not come handy when you have a very bad script and screen play. Jyothika’s voice is totally creating panic among the audience(!!!!) satyan is the only comfort for the audience. But the three namely surya, jo, satyan have really tried to show their character (whether I wonder any such exists in this script??) and ended with over performance.Music(????) by devsri prasad is not remaining in hearts.
He may try to give a commercial music , but must have been choosy for certain numbers atleast like his same number ’’kattu kattu’’ in thirupaatchi .But he has scored ’’noisy’’ music almost for all songs except one that takes place when surya, vishnupriya, satyan celeberate jo’s birthday.
Rathnavelu has very less work for camera. Singapuli as usual as in ’’RED’’ had failed in screenplay and also in framing the scenes. The First half could be termed as below average. But the second half is bad than the ’’worst’’.
I really felt sleepy when the movie was reaching its end.On the whole if you want to sleep , go for this movie..
