Whats so gr8 about it?

When Macdonald’s was launched in India, quite some time ago ..in Mumbai (Linking Road, Bandra), let me tell you that on the opening day, I too was standing in the long queue to be there. What with the hype and advertising, it was the place to be. Well, at the end of the day, when our turn came, we had a veg Mac burger and since we were hungry, we loved it.

But that was then..Sometime back, a few friends decided that we go to macs, for a burger treat. But somehow, midway thro a burger I was bored. Somehow, the taste wasn’t cool.

And the price, hardly worth it. The only thing I like at MAcs are their french fries, and that too not daily..once a while is OK.

Here they have indianised the burgers to an extent. Of theses versions, I somewhat like the Mc aaloo tikki. But nothing more. A happy meal, consisting of a burger and a cola, costs Rs 63/-. For this price in india, I can get a decent meal in a decent restaurant. So why would I want to go to macs. And the thick shakes cost Rs 33/-. Why would I pay that money, when for the same amount, I can get a fresh fruit milkshake..And the coke..with all the ice added to it, it tastes watery. Its a waste I tell you.

But then, this place is a hit here with the kids. And macs targets this consumer category with gusto. The happy meals are a surefire way of attracting kids with the toys given with them. And the so many promos etc. So actually, it is the kids who generate Macdonalds business here. For it is with the kids, that the parents too come.Smart marketing there.

But all said and done, I am not too fond of Macdonalds. Hygeine or otherwise, if it comes to getting a full cost effective and sumptuous meal, Macdonalds is the last place for me.
