It is but the living truth that movies are best enjoyed in the theatres, and Thakut is one such theater that certifies that statement. Thakur Cinema is now part of the Fame group of cinemas, and hence named Fame Thakur.
This theatre is located in Thakur Village, kandivali East, . To get there, you have to take an inner road off WE highway. For those living in the suburbs, This is one of the easily accessed cinemas. Trust me on this, since the other nearest theatre complex is the cinemax group, but getting in and out is a nighmare, with access roads clogged most of the times.
This is no multiplex, but this building houses what I believe the biggest theatres in Mumbai. And Big it is. This theatre has two Balconies & the upper stall, priced at Rs 70 I guess.
The first Balcony on the third Floor is the best place to watch the movie from. Here in the balconies there are 2 types of seating. One is the Premier Class & the Other is the Royal Class. The row is Y row. On weekends, the Royal Class is priced at Rs 150, But this is worth it, since you are seated in a plush sofa Seat. The other class is the usual but good seats, priced at Rs 120.
There arelifts to take u up and bring you down too. Useful, if you have senior citizens with you.
The second Balcony has similar arrangements, having a royal Class too. This row is X.But here you are watching the movie from higher up. This results in some people feeling woozy during chase scenes.
When you are booking your seats, make sure( online or otherwise), That you avoid the corner most seats in both X & Y row. The reasons for the same are different.
1) In X row( 2nd balcony), The cornermost seats, tho comfy, have limited leg space.
2) In Y row( 1st balcony), avoid seat nos Y28, 29, 30. There is an unbearable stench near these seats. We have noticed this 2-3 times as we were exiting the theater.
Apart from this, this is one fine theatre. Sheer movie watchin pleasure with good sound system.
There is ample parking space within the complex as well as outside. If you are planning a night out, great place to be, since the building also houses The Pizza Hut, and Coffee Day shops.
