When Style Matters ...

Hey Sister… See that mister … Socca Socca na na … Allez allez… allez ooa socca socca na na

So starts the movie after a superb plane crash scene, thanks to superior ariel photography… “a john woo film” … “tom cruise” … “thandie newton”… flash on the screen which is more than enough to secure my seat on the cinema hall, being an ardent fan of john woo, a name synonymous with action movies.

The movie starts with a superb punch, tom cruise (Ethan Hunt) scaling the heights of the Grand Canyon, in the process of which he slips yet hangs on by holding to a rock with four fingers for a few seconds so that the camera-man distances himself and rotates around cruise, who looks very stylish with long hair in the film.

However his holiday trip is interrupted by the IMF, firing at him his secret mission. Hence he leaves for Seville, Spain to hire a thief for helping him in his mission. But it isn’t easy as he has to chase Thandie Newton’s car and ends up saying her life after which follows some romance. The car chase is very breathtaking indeed.

Coming to the mission, IMF has to prevent the bad boys from making money by spreading a disease causing virus Chimera and providing vaccination for the same in collaboration with Bio-Pharmaceuticals. Fortunately thandie is the villan’s ex-girl friend and cruise uses her to know the plans of the villan and the audience are taken to Sydney. Thus goes the film … rest of which is for you to see.

What to expect:

  1. Style, Style and oodles of style that kills u.

  2. Technology (masking voice etc.)

  3. Plenty of action for the starved

  4. A very Stylish Tom Cruise

  5. Nail biting Car and Bike chase sequences

  6. Nice photography

  7. Good Sound effects.

  8. Unbelievable stuff.

After seeing this film I see the only con is that the action is unbelievable. But I feel that a product should be rated based on the segment it is expected to appeal. As for the MI:2, I will definitely cater to the tastes of kids and teens. Elderly persons tend to get bored coz they don prefer much violence, but as for me, the film entertained me very much. Also Indians accept English movies though they don’t like the same on their regional language. The thing about this film is only action and style. What it lacks is the FEEL that the OSCAR awarded films like Gladiator, Titanic deliver. However it is based on entertainment rather on Sentiment. I don’t think it is a must see but I bet u’ll love it if u love action. My personnel idea on seeing movies without the FEEL is like eating Chicken Biriyani without Chicken. However opinion may differ…

The film ends …

“ Let us get lost...” – Ethan Hunt

“Hey Hey He Hey … Aint no mercy … aint no mercy there for me …” (I disappear)
