I watched mohabattein with great expectations. After the brilliant stuff from the director in DDLJ, I had some expectations from the movie. Fom the time the movie started, till its end the I kept on telling myself, that this movie is going to improve. But I came out of the theatre bewildered. This could have been handled so differently. Aditya, wanted to show the power of love.He had such a good cast, and he could have done it better keeping the film as well as the cast short. But what he chose to keep short were the dresses and the necklines of the actresses.sigh.
Wasnt Amitabh as the head of the Gurukool right in being a strict disciplinarian. Hey! If my kid was going to such a school, Id definitely want someone like him to keep the dicipline. I definitely wouldnt want my kids to be flirting around.
Maybe mohabattein would have turned out better, if theyd have focussed on Shahrukhs love, and introducing just one pair and revolving the story around 3 pairs.
It could definitely have been done differently. And of the cast, it was definitely Sharukh who steals the show. OF course I am a big fan of the Big B. But here he gave a good but restrained performance. The one scene I really liked was the final confrontation of the two stars.
Rest of the cast was oh so so . Kim Sharma looked lost (kind of moose miller of the archies - duh!).
And the scenes which brought the couples together were a drag. Shamita asking Uday..kya tum mujhe waise dekhna chahoge? ( what waise - the outfits were waise anyway).
Kim sharma in miniscule outfit, suddenly cries after being dropped in water, and the silly scene of the masoom guy ( I forgot his name) wading into the water and covering her..sheesh!..
And Preeti Jhanghiani, she never looked the widow ever...
Ah such a mess...it could have been so much better..
aLas! And Aish was wasted too...
