Before starting my review I would like to tell u tht the reason behind watching this film was the best actress awards won by SHABANA AZMI for this movie. From tht day I started following this film n thought tht this must be a must be a master piece. Well lets see is it or not? But the porblem was tht being an international movie it did not release in my country Pakistan, still it has not been released here. All thX to STAR MOVIES tht in the colours of India it finally showed tht movie n u can imagine the hieght of my happiness.
THE STORY
The story of morning raga is very simple still very appealing. the story revovles a guy named Abhinay (prakaash rao), who belongs to a small south-indian town, lives in Hyder-Abad. he’s a musician by profession, very modern unlike his village, but he wanted to do something new, something unique to be indifferent frm others, but he fails every time.
Another story is of Abhinav’s mother, who 20 yrs before went with her friend Swarnalatha (Shabana Azmi), a talented Carnatic singer with a burning ambition to perform in the city. During thier journey, while passing frm a very loong bridge their bus had an accident in which Shabana’s friend, Abhinav’s mother died. So after this incident Swarnalatha never even had a thought of goin to city n blamed herself for the death of her beloved friend.
And the third n final story is of LILLETE DUBEY n her daughter PARIZAAD ZORABIAN. They also lived in tht village. Lillete’s marriage was a happy one. Her husband was very cruel n was involved in gambling, drinking etc etc. There were always fights goin on between father n mother of parizaad, she was used to think tht her mother don’t love his father so used to hate her mother. One day Parizaad’s father was drunk n was driving recklessly then suddenly a bus came frm the opposite side n the accident occured in which her father died. After his death both mother n daughter went to the city n opened their boutique n started a happy life n forgot their past.
Now morning raga shows these combined three stories were poles apart frm each other n how these three stories meet at one point. For this u shld watch the movie urself.
PERFORMANCES
Shabana Aazmi have tackled such a unique n quiet role very beatifully n I need not explain it nymore as she hav won the award for her performance. Prakaash Rao may look constipated in the film but his character requires him to be very ambitious n serious in life due to the accident of his mother in which he was rescued.
Parizaad is looking preety with her beautiful outfits. She looks much charming in the second half due to colourful sarees. Like everytime Lillete Dubey was fantastic. Though she did not has a very long role but it seemed as if she was born fo this character.
MUSIC
Music was one of the greatest n unique as u can see frm ma title. I bet ppl having the real sense of music would love it esp. the final performance of three of them Shabana, PArizaad n Prakash’s one.
MOvie is really worth watching so all u guys there jus go n either rent this movie or buy it ( this one is not for paki cuz yahaan abhi tak nahi ayi :(
