I always wondered why they call this site Mouth Shut? That would tend to lead a non member to think no one does anything here so why not Mouth Open? Just a thought.
Non members can come here and read several reviews on the same item and make a decision on whether or not they would buy the item, or visit the area or whatever the case might be.
So I feel when we write a review that is exactly what we should do. Give as many facts as possible to help the buyer make a decision. For example if someone is going to be travelling they will want to know what there is to see in the area. They will also want to know what rates are like for hotels, meals and such so they can plan a budget for their trip.
Try to state the advantages and disadvantages not your full blown diary on the subject. No offense meant to anyone but have seen some reviews that are like diaries. You may have eaten somewhere that you thought was terrible, someone else may find it to their taste as all tastes vary.
Anyway I am supposed to be writing on the topic so let me get back to it.
The site for members is a good way to inform others, to make friends and have some fun.
The appearance is plain and not too busy which helps to not distract people from what they are here for and that is to read, not look at a pretty web site.
Load time of the site is about normal. A little slow at certain times depending on how many people are on.
The alerts that we set to read our favorite reviewers most of the time do not work. This is something I hope is corrected in the future. My alerts have been down several times in the last month alone. This makes it very hard and leaves you a few options.
I go to the last reviews written on the home page and read those. I check my own account for people that may have added me to their trust list so I can thank them or also to read comments that were left.
From there it is hard as I have a large list of trusted people and I would have to go to every one of them to see if they wrote something that I may have missed. This is totally too time consuming so if the alerts could be fixed it would be a much better site.
As for comments remember to check yours and to comment back where needed. This is a nice community and everyone is very helpful so if you are new especially check your ratings and comments and read others that have written a lot of reviews especially the star writers to get an idea of how to write a better review.
