Had a choice between Chillar Party and Murder2, I settled for the latter and to my expectation the movie did not let me down. A high voltage drama which has not a single dull moment. Imran Hashmi has come off age and is the league of true actors present today in bollywood. He is one of the few rare young actors who can shoulder a movie alone in the era where other actors struggle to succeed in a multi starrer projects. Mohit Suri I feel is the most underrated director looking at this previous work in bollywoood and churning out good cinema in small budgets and specially with new talents. Mohit just knows how to get the skills out from his entire star cast. Here he successfully manages to evoke psychological fear which has parallels with the hollywood flick SEVEN staring Brad Pitt/ Morgan Freeman. The background music is awesome and syncs the audience with the script, stirring emotions like fear, anger revenge and love. A special note to the deep bass used in terror scenes making it look real deep and dark.
Jacqueline Fernandez truly disappoints and fails to ignite the passion and chemistry with her co-star, wearing skimpy clothes does not make her look sexy, she lacks substance. Mallika Sherawat managed the same so well in Murder, which got her success spite of being a newcomer in the industry. I always wonder why do we have this firang girl fixation when there are plenty of new faces which bollywood has to offer.
Prashant Narayanan needs a standing applaud for gripping the audience right from his entry and there on creating fear with every passing minute. His character will be remembered for long like Ashutosh Rana’s in Sangarsh. He really deserves an award for his work.
Lastly in the time of mindless comedies and super cop action flicks Murder2 stands out, one can feel the honest and hard work which the entire crew has put in. Murder2 is meant to be watched in a cinema hall and may not give the same experience when watched on small screen. A must see thriller.
My rating 4 / 5
