Naa Oopiri ., a movie that went unnoticed probably because of the lack of the big starcast in it. Me not being a movie buff., would also have gien this movie a miss if it werent for the wonderful music given by the malayali music director Deepak Dev . Me n Sis just planned to go for it one rainy mornin just coz we loved the music so much and hopin that the movie also stands up to the musics level., and we dont regret it one bit. The movie starts of slow with the Innocent Venu ( Naveen Vadde) expressin his love to Gowri( Sangeetha) his childhood friend and both of them getting married and begining their new life together. They have a kid named Ramu. Venu is Extremely fond of both his wife and kid., almost obsessed. Later Venu learns that hes suffering from a mental illness called schizophrenia which has been the cause for some minor problems in his life. He sees things that arent there., and cannot make out the diference between wats real n wats not. Then enters Madhu ( Juhi) ., a girl lookin for true affection and finds it in him. But is she for real or his mind playing with him? As far as the performances go., Naveen as we all know being a reserved matured kind of guy, deserves a pat on the back for his performance in this movie as an innocent guy. Sangeetha also did a gr8 job as a loving caring housewife. Juhi was good in the looks department and her role as a chirpy young girl., but wasnt that good in emotional scenes. I personally feel this movie has elements from A beautiful mind and The Others. The Director Kanmani needs all the respect for risking makin a movie on a topic such as this and stickin to his idea especially in this time when movies almost run entirely on casting Big stars and have no sensitivity in them. This movie has enuf twists to tickle your brain and enuf emotion to touch your heart. This movie is frankly not a 100 % perfect but its definetely watching once. Its like., you want to get up and leave from the theatre, just then something happens that makes you think May b Ill just sit for a few mins more and then Leave., but U end up watchin the whole movie and also enjoying it.
