Think of entry level D SLRs, think of D 70. The advanced D70s is indeed a better one. Not available any more from stores but in E Bay at reasonable cost. The 6.2 mpxl one may not be sounding good enough for those who came to world of photography with Digital cameras due to advent of 10mpxl Plus cameras. But a 6.2 mpxl can give decent prints of even 12 X 18 inch in Photo paper. Even larger in news print and super sized prints in flex.
Built quality wise it is incomparable at its price range. Rugged, good ergonomically designed body hosts a pop up Nikon Speedlight flash too.
Features include few very advanced ones like multi-Flash control over Radio signal. Well if you use smart flashes like Nikon SB600 or SB800.
Kit lens is good enough. But one cannot expect the lens to perform at its best for more than three years. It contains non glass elements.
Firmware wise highly advanced camera, though now considered bit primitive after around 4 years of its introduction . But upgradable firmware- a huge advantage.
Only con is its storage medium- it is CF Card.
It is excellent for those who are interested for night time sky shooting as the image sensor is CCD panel not CMOS. Experts consider CCD as better choice in this parameter.
As a whole- in a scale of 0 to 10 the camera gets 8.
