At the outset, I must express my pleasant surprise with the speed and professionalism of MaxBupa team to approve our cashless claim for the surgery done today. This was performed at Nova Hospital in Koramangla, which was quite expensive(not sure if these hospitals charge more after knowing that it is covered by the Medical Insurance).
Anyway, the whole process from pre-approval to discharge approval were quick and interactive with messages of the status sent on my mobile. Overall I am quite happy with this process.
However, looking at so many complaints by MaxBupa customers on this forum, I am a bit confused. I do understand the stress for paying the huge medical expenses but not getting the Insurance company cover the same. If MaxBupa made my claims settle so smoothly, why would they be unfair to others. This is a little mystery.
My honest suggestion to people is to spend some time on the terms and conditions while buying the policy. There may be some unethical agents who may not guide us properly but I feel that Max Bupa as a company seems to be honest and honorable to their commitments. Well, this is purely a personal view and not based on a very long experience of handling medical insurance claims.
