Nokia 5800, a useless phone of an uncaring company

Nokia 5800: A Useless

Product of a Uncaring Company

Update: 09-04-08

Here’s an update:

The swapped handset that I got after nearly 3 weeks waiting and not to mention loads of customer calls and visits is also defective. The screen vanishes or turns purple when sending a message, e-mail. I’ve read many posts on this Web site related to this problem.

I have now sworn off Nokia devices forever and am contemplating filing a consumer case against these guys - I am sure they have plenty of cases against them by now. They are using India as a dumping group and Indians as guinea pigs for wasting money on their substandard products - this is how they respect perhaps their largest market for handsets any where in the World. Its a shame and sham!

Ok...so here’s a minor update. A lady called me on Saturday claiming that she was from Nokia (Mumbai number) and is looking into the issue. (BTW...Nokia has been looking into the issue for now 2 weeks- why so long...I DON’T KNOW???)

She also said that she will be discussing it with senior people in Nokia - response time - approximately one more week...this means, the issue will be open with Nokia for almost 3 weeks...CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? This is the largest handset manufacturer in the world...a decision to replace or repair or update a customer who has paid Rs. 20, 000 for a crappy handset for a company earning billions of the dollars takes 3 WHOLE WEEKS!!!

JUST GOES TO SHOW THE LEVEL OF SERIOUSNESS THEY PUT INTO THEIR JOBS!!! UN BLOODY BELIEVABLE....People...don’t buy high end Nokia phones...you will probably be better served if you purchase a SE, Samsung or LG or even Motorola, since they are not "the largest handset manufacturers in the world"....

While you read this...browse through the following links to make an informed decision:

I had bought a Nokia 5800 and within days, the phone started to reboot without any reason. I had to waste time and money going back and forth to Nokia Care Centers in India, and they reloaded the software thrice, but the issue did not get resolved.

Finally I had to fight with them to send to the main Nokia owned repair center and its been nearly 2 weeks now and numerous calls and follow ups have been made by me but Nokia India is just not listening. In India the phone costs Rs. 20000 - it is on the higher side of the price bracket, but Nokia treats its customers like dirt. I have vowed never to purchase a Nokia phone again for myself.

Nokia has become so big "the largest handset manufacturers in the world" - they basically don’t care any more. Those visiting blog are advised not to purchase this particular handset. You may get lucky by getting a good handset, but good luck if you get a bad one and try to have it repaired.....
