Hi all. The last review kicked off so much dirt in terms of ’’comments’’ that I
just could not resist jumping in with my own review! Well so here it is...
I switched over to a Nokia 3230 after the unfortunate theft of my Nokia 6230. Needless to say after 6230, a 3230 was a very poor substitute...pathetic experience to say the least- except for the looks which has anyways become ubiquitous. So, just a week back I stumbled into a priority dealer and got this baby- Nokia 6680.
Though it has just been a week or less and hence a long-term view cant be taken, I believe that its a good phone- feature rich, high-tech and without bugs (so far). And about the looks- I dont find it bad at all- well contoured and handy!
The processor is fast though not lightening fast and is capable of running a number of programs at a time without going slow. vast improvement over the snail paced 3230.
The screen resolution is sharp and the pictures come good when there is adequate light. Even the zoom 6X digital, doesn’t spoil the image too much. The flash part I am not too sure about...have used it sparingly till date- image quality anyways remains good even without the flash. The pictures taken in low-light conditions suffer- but then for that u would rather have a dedicated digi-cam anyways!!!
I am the one musicoholic- gotta have a player when traveling- that was where 3230 was a huge disappointment- the major reason why I sold it off in 22 days. For a person like me, 6680 is a boon ...super crystal sound quality that can hold more than a candle to I Pods in terms of sheer quality. The experience without the head sets attached is good too- stereo and crisp!!
One let down is the absence of FM radio functions. Nokia is anyways notorious for leaving our one functionality in each of its phone and exploit the market to its full potential. I am still amazed that how could they come out with 6230 and then 6230i- which had all the conceivable features in a mobile.
Another good thing is the fast web browsing experience. Improvement over the last few models. The connectivity to PC has improved too- data transfer rate has improved considerably over the previous models.
The second cam ostensibly used for video conferencing and self-imaging is more of a futuristic functionality- 3g services that are essential for video calls, anyways will take some time to be introduced in India. But this features ensures that the phone wont get outdated in near future.
Memory card can be hot-swiped.
Its a smartphone and so support for viewing Ms Word, Excel and PowerPoint has been provided- good!
What else?? Its a serious phone- a smart one and looks good in ur palms. Bang for the bucks??? not sure but not at all a bad buy.
Strongly recommended for status-conscious ones and who want their music on the go..
