I am not only a huge fan of George Clooney but the entire cast, except maybe Julia Roberts (because she plays the same part in all her movies). I also enjoyed Oceans Eleven the many times I watched it. So was I surprised when this one bored me to tears? YES!
I actually bought the movie thinking it would be great because the cast was so great and diverse. I have to admit, George Clooney still was great to watch, but Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Don Cheadle were so boring I actually fell asleep in the middle. Elliott Gould, Carl Reiner and Bernie Mac (to name a few) were great characters with their comedic idiosyncrocies and clearly had fun. This was not a comedy and yet, I just had to laugh. Particularly at the part where Julia Roberts does a part as her real self-Julia Roberts. There was even less chemistry with her and George than the first movie. I really love Andy Garcia and felt that he did not have enough presence. Perhaps he was overshadowed by the great cast.
I am pleased to say that I was again revived with the part of the movie when the Master Thief breaks in to the Museum in Italy and does an amazing acrobatic scene through a labrynth of lasers. He was truly amazing but I was reminded of the great acrobatics of Catherine Zeta Jones in a similar situation in another film with Sean Connery.
So, needless to say, this movie although cast well, was not a good film and I am so relieved that I did not pay money or spend 2 hours in the theatre. I may even just bring this DVD back to the store.
