OMG is not just a film it is a dark comedy on the current state of mind of the country in terms of religion and the stature of the Godmen. The movie revolves around a common man Kanji Bhai(played by Paresh Rawal), a non believer of god who looses his shop under an earthquake; reason - cursing god and becoming hindrance to the famous govinda ceremony.
The apathy increases when he realizes that he is denied insurance for the shop as an earthquake is considered as an "Act of God". With two children whose future is at line, Kanji needs money from the insurance company and the only way out is to challenge God.
With no one to support, Kanji meets an advocate Hanif Qureshi who was crippled for fighting a case for a group of Hindus during the riots. Since Hanif cannot attend court, it is Kanji who has to fight the case.
The story takes a complete new turn when Kanji claims that the temples and godmen are messengers of God and hence are responsible to pay out his insurance on behalf of God. The movie further from here is very interesting and is better not to be revealed for those who have not watched.
Coming to the various departments of the movie, I start with the story which is extremely fresh and looks uninspired from any other earlier movies. The script is very well written with the write balance where it doesnt offend the movie goers who are god believers.
The director, Umesh Shukla has managed to pull out excellent performance from all the characters and actors. Paresh Rawal has proved once again that any story teller can rely on him for leading the story and delivering the movie with greater impact. Whats surprising is the role played by ace actor Mithun Chokroborty. Playing Godman Leeladhar, Mithun has proved once again that when there is a character need he is present as an actor to justify it. With Govind Namdeos performance as Siddheswar Maharaj adding the all the delight needed, OMG is a complete film excellently told.
I will give it a big thumbs up and not to forget call it a MUST WATCH
