This review highlights the pathetic customer service by Onida. If you are interested in knowing the performance of the tv and other details, sorry - this is not the review you Should be reading.
For me the customer service is the most important feature of any product. How ever good the product, if the customer service is pathetic, the product is useless. This probably is the reason, why maruti stands good in the car sector because of its good on road service.
Now coming back to the Ondia story....
I have a tv 5 year old onida oxygen ky. The performance of the tv has been generally ok with decent sound and picture quality. However, it has issues of breaking down in between. Over the period of 5 years, 4 times we needed to call the customer care and each time they came and replaced some stuff charging between 500 and 2000.
This is when the actual fun begins.The customer care in Bangalore behaves like - Who asked you to purchase the TV? Every time you make a complaint they dont respond properly and they have a standard answer - "We will get back to you withing 3 working days". Probably they dont know that a day is 24 hours and not 72 hours. Wrong commitment. Sometimes, when we follow up they say, that we need to make a fresh complaint as the earlier one is missing. When I try to provide the phone number, they say that no complaint has been lodged. God knows whether these guys are using computer or typewriter to take the complaints. And it takes almost a couple of weeks to get the issue rectified.
So the moral of the story is dont buy Onida. Go to LG, Samsung, Sony etc and buy it. Even if you pay a bit more it is worth it. Or if you still want to buy Onida, pls make sure that you pray daily that the product doesnt fail, else you would have to call the customer care.. And always opt for an extended warranty (1 year warrant wont suffice). It is time the company managemnt fixes these issues else Onida will die a pathetic death witnessed by many other indian companies in 1990s with the arrival of superior foriegn brands with better support.
