Gem of a place to enjoy nature!

I first visited the Botanical Garden tucked away in the queen of hills, Ooty, as part of a 3 days school excursion trip and then later again in 2014 with my husband.

This is an extra-ordinarily well maintained garden where you can thoroughly enjoy the lush of greenery away from the daily noisy traffic. The staff working in the gardens were quite friendly and it was a great sight watching the kids, newlyweds, families and friends laughing and enjoying the outdoors together, leaving all worries of bustling daily life behind.

The garden has a terraced layout and beautiful several lawns laid in Italian style and is home to more than 1000 species of exotic and indigenous plants, herbs and trees. Here you can find the most astonishing and rare species of trees such as paper bark trees, cork tree and the monkey puzzled tree( it’s said that even monkeys fail to climb it) and even an old fossilized tree which is believed to be around 20 million years old.

Also they have a flower show which is held every year for two days and prizes are distributed to the winners in connection to the various competitions held. This Botanical garden is indeed a great place to enjoy the flora and fauna of Niligirs and also a lovely place to spend  memorable time with your loved ones. You won’t even realize time slowly ticking by as you try to breathe in all the heavenly beauty around you.

Given a chance, I’d surely visit this place again and also I’ll try to spend more time here so that next time I can explore and enjoy every bit of this breathtakingly beautiful garden.
