Madhvi Sharma (Konkana Sen Sharma) is an rookie journalist who is working with a big daily, Nation Today, as a journalist whose job is to cover ’’Page 3’’ Parties and happenings.In the time she is not working she is staying in a rented flat with Tomboyish Airhostess Pearl (Sandhya Mridul) and an upcoming actress Gayatri(Tara Sharma..Good Face..horrible voice).
Now Page 3 is that section of the newspaper extra supplement which showcases lifestyles of celebrities. The page 3 concept was started way back in 1994 by The Times Of India through its supplement, Bombay Times and was then followed by nearly all english newspapers. She has a mentor in a strict yet warm Editor Deepak Suri (Wonderfully played by Boman Irani).
While she is frustrated by daily reportings of the same old boring and fake- put on parties, her level of frustration reaches the limit when she has to write a report on a funeral of a famous socialite. She decides to expand her ventures when she requests her editor to work as a crime reporter with firebrand journalist, Vinayak Mane(Atul Kulkarni).
When she covers a top crime story which involves many of the rich and famous, she has to pay a price. Well meant movie with superb and natural acting from everyone, especially Sandhya Mridul as Pearl.
Thankfully there are no unwanted, coming out of no where, songs which is the best part of the movie.A well researched and honest look at the dark side of the lifestyles of the rich and famous.
Reminds you largely of movies Like The Insider, All The President’s Men, Mad City and Some Hindi Movies Like New Delhi Times.

1) Many of Page 3 regulars make a cameo in the movie, Kishen Mulchandani, Suchitra Sen, Maya Alag and Soni Razdan amongst some of them. Also cameos by Sunil Shetty, Gay
2) During the making of the movie, an upcoming actress, Preeti Jain, accused Madhur Bhandarkar of continoulsy sexually exploiting her for 7 years in the lieu of promising her a role in a movie. This caused quite an uproar and almost got the film to be shelved mid way.
3) Madhur Bhandarkar has many scenes shot as a steadycam sequence because he wanted the viewers to feel nauseatic.
4) This is the first time in nearly 15 years that Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosale have sung for a soundtrack of a single movie which is not a Gulzar/Mangeshkar/Yash Chopra Production.
