Pathetic Remake of the 1996 English Hit Movie The Rock. CBI Officer Akram (Sunil Shetty) is on a highly confidential mission. A deadly virus has been stolen from India’s Scientific Labs by a sex starved scientist Gopal (Chunkey Pandey) who has given it to anti national terrorists Ali (Arbaaz Khan) and Abbas (Sanjay Kapoor) and Layla (Isha Koppikar). They have hold a group of 213 tourists on Elphinstone Island (More Details about that in the psst section) near Bombay city. The Terrorists plan to release the virus through missiles in to the waters of Bombay in 24 hours if their demand of Rs 1500 Crore and a safe deposition to Pakistan is not fulfilled. The Only way to save the city is to go in to the Elphisntone Jail without the terrorists knowing. Rachit (Ajay Devgan) is the only man who has ever escaped from the jail and also has an old score to settle against the Terrorists. He is helped by another stupid scientist Rahul (ashish Chowdhry). Sapna (Neha Dhupia) and Riya Sen are their respective Girl Friends. Pathetic treatment of what could have been a good adaptation of The Rock. The Star Cast is good but some of the action scenes defy all the scientific principles. Huge supporting star cast of Anjan Shrivastav, Kulbushan Khrabanda, Ayub Khan and Govind Namdeo are Wasted. When will film makers realize that it takes more then some clichéd anti Pakistani dialogues? Don’t watch the movie. That’s all that I can say.

1) Director Harry Baweja kept telling in press interviews that Qayamat is not a remake of The Rock. He should be publicly whipped for that.
2) Ashish Chowdhry was last seen on the large screen in the 1999 under rated comedy Chalo America.
3) Ajay Devgan although in the lead role has the least speaking lines. He has just 3 lines of dialogues in the post - interval period.

Oops
1) Lots of flaws. There is NO Elphinstone Jail anywhere on the outskirts of the sea of Bombay. There is only Elephanta Caves Island and that too is NOT a Jail but religious caves. This hampered the entire film.
2) Sunil Shetty’s has stubble in some scenes and is clean shaven in the others. This in a story which ranges in a period of just 1 day.
3) When The First Missile is fired it is in the night. After some time its morning with bright sunlight.
4) Ajay Devgan, Ashish Chowdhry and Riya Sen are inside the tunnel and are completely drenched in one scene and in the next scene they are completely dry.
5) Watch Sunil Shetty Die 2 times. Once when Arbaaz Khan and Sanjay Kapoor shoot him and once when he is shot by another henchman while saving Ashish Chowdhry.
6) Ajay Devgan catches a live hand grenade thrown at him and throws it back. Jonthy Rhodes has found a successor.
