It is worth the money

I had hardly come across any reviews of Quality Inn (also known as The Den) at Corbett National Park, before I was to book for my accommodation. But on checking out their web site, and comparing with web pages of other resorts in Corbett, I decided to take a chance with them. As per schedule I, my wife and kid reached Quality Inn on 7-May-09 morning (7 AM) from Ramnagar Railway Station, by the Corbett Park Link express from Delhi.

The asst manager received us quite courteously and saw us to a good cottage (River room) in his resort. The cottage was comfortable, with everything a typical Indian family might need. We particularly appreciated the electric kettle and freezer, two things few hotels provide in India. In our stay for 3 nights and 4 days there, our best impression was that of the food. It was just great to say the least, with ample variety and more than sufficing. We were on a MAPAI plan that included breakfast and dinner for two, and complimentary for the kid. The restaurant staff were very polite in their service.

My kid enjoyed a swim in the Kosi river, that was just half a km away. We also enjoyed the elephant safari (local, only within Kumeria forest), although the cost for this could be perhaps less. There were some hiccups with power supply during the evenings causing disruption in air- conditioning, but the management did employ a generator on these occasions, albeit with some delay. The main negative point I felt was the rather large distance of the resort from most safari gates. That meant more costs for some of the jeep safaris. The resort however, is in proximity to Lohachaur (Durgadevi gate), where we spotted many wild boar and a large tiger during one jeep safari! All said, I do recommend Quality Inn for a family.
