GOOD....TECHNICALLY PERFECT...GOOD LOOKINg.... But criminally SLOW. I havnt seen a cricket match where Dravid has won a match single handedly for India. NEVER. Its a fact.
Lemme give u an example-
Last month against Sri Lanka he couldnt do what what any batsmen in the world with half the ’’reputation’’ of Dravid would have done easily. India had 5 wickets in hand & dravid playing in his late thirties. India needed some 27 runs in 30 balls. Cakewalk isnt it? Exactly what Siddhu thought innocently & declared from the commentry box. But Tony Grieg his partner isnt considered such a great comentrator just for nothing. He said ’’I wont be so sure about a cake walk Siddhu’’. India went on to lose the match. No we didnt lose the wicket of dravid . He remained not out at 49(i was the happiest person that he couldnt complete one more useless half century that day). He failed to hit a single boundary from that point on. Now Do I have to explain any further? No!!! But Hardcore Dravid fans dont understand such simple things so easily.
I have noticed 90% of the good scores by Dravid in one day matches has been useless. HOW? I’ll tell u how. He has made most of his half centuries in situations when india had lost both Ganguly Sachin & Azhar too. So the situation was that India might not reach even 100 runs. Then comes the saviour of indian cricket ’’the Wall’’ to save us from humiliation. He scores a half century taking his own sweet time & in the process taking india to 180+ score giving indian scoreboard some ’’respectibility’’. But 180 used to be a good score when Dravid was in junior school , when west indian pacers were destroying the batsmen at will. Not anymore. Today even Bangladesh on its day will defeat most of the teams if they need to score 170 or 180. So u see my dear ’’Dravid fan’’ that 50 was of no use to me. We lost the game anyway. I would rather see dravid play less consistently but win matches for india. Infact he is such a dud he got ’’aggressive’’(yeah nowadays he IS compared to before) only when there was a threat to his place in the playingXI in the one day team. Huh!! Whats the use of all the good technique if he cannot win matches for india? Infact he has scored most of his centuries in the shadow of others like ganguly & sachin.
Theres one more thing about Dravid fans which is typical of all of them(since i’m from b’lore there r plenty of them I know). Whenever u ask them that Dravid cannot play aggresively their answer come even before u finished the questioned- ’’remember when dravid hit the mighty Donald for a six’’ hahaha. There lies the answer. Theere is just one instance & that too of a six by Dravid that even his fans remember. ’Coz there is no other example. And in that match india needed to score at a rate of 6 per over from the start so big deal if he hit a few fours & ’’one’’ six.... And is dravid the only player in the world who hit donald for a six? Even Praveen Amre did that. BTW India lost that match also. hehe
Now Dravid definitely should be there in the TEST team. Theres no denying that. But one day? I dont think so. But he will stay on. Coz he scores runs. No one notices if half those runs r of any use at all.
In the end all I want to say is that whats all that technical perfection for if he cannot win matches for India? For me some with much inferior talent or technique like Afridi is much more valuable than dravid ’coz when afridi plays no team in the world can defeat pakistan(unless its fixed already). I want to see ’’players with balls’’ like Tendulkar , Sehwag, Ganguly , Harbajan types play for my country. Its a shame to have pussies like dravid & srinath representing my country. If dravid was born in Australia he wouldnt have made it to their TEST team also...have u seen how fast they score even in Test matches?
