I had booked “Exotic Far East” tour dated 5th Dec 2005. Due to medical emergency at home I had to cancel my trip. I had informed RAJ TRAVELS about cancellation of my tour on 3rd Dec 2005 (2 days before departure date – 5th dec 2005). As per the terms and conditions I am entitled to get refund of the payment in case of cancellation.
After few days Pune office informed that I will not get any refund and the entire amount will be forfeited. I visted Raj Travels pune office numerous times, called Mumbai office, but I was told that I should talk to Pune office as I had booked the tour from that office.
Now I have contacted ICRPC - International Consumer Rights Protection Council
via the website (https://icrpc.org/) and they have sent a notice on my behalf. This notice seems to carry some weightage as they responsed and a dailogue of discussion has started. They have offered me Rs 20, 000 refund, but I have declined that as it no way near the amount I paid for the trip.
I am planning to pursue the case with RAJ Travels because they are simply cheating customers like by not refunding the amount. If any of you have such issue with this operator or any other please contact ICRPC and take action.
Just to let you know you can take legal action in consumer court ( http://www.icrpc.org) if you are not happy with the quality of service provided. I would urge all of you to not allow companies like RAJ TRAVELS to take consumers for granted. They should be taught a lesson by taking legal action.
