Good Production Value...Hot Babes and Suniel

Tell u what- the movie has excellent production value- Shetty’s Popcorn and Mallya, the two producers have spent lavishly and it shows... something to be lauded Another good thing going for the movie is the background score - excellent - by sandeep chowta - even the eerie noises that have become the bread and butter of such flicks sound different in Rakht.

Did I tell you that the gurlz in the movie are hot!!! Man just watch Amrita- shez sizzling red-hot...and as Yana looks like loving every latka-jhatka in the - ’’babe song’’... Dhupiya looks sweet and vulnerable ... and Bips dresses diffrently except for the super-hot low-cut, tight pant in the ’’one-love song’’... on the whole adequately skimpily clad gurlz displaying their assets generously...and no ones complaining...not me!!!

Acting::: thats something to be handled with care::: Man I love Sanju baba--- I adored him in mission kashmir...but here he looks--REALLY old and tired and zaded... why??? May be its time he starts playing his age. Mostly boring and contagiously so... he sleepwalks through the movie... except at the ned where we see the same spark emanating which we identify him with!

Bips doesn’t know how to act... shez a lot like Aishwarya... 3 set expressions and thats about it!! but shez done justice to her role which believe me- is not the easiest role in the hindi cinema lexicon...she has imparted to the role the flesh and spirit it requires and done her best...keep it up Bips..at least you tried hard and succeded to some extent!

Dino is good...as a wife-beater and abusive man with major dark-streaks...he will be remembered after the movie shows have ended...If you notice he has been one of the most improved actors of the recent times...just compare his recent performances with Raaz and u will know what I am talking about...

And in the end:::all bells toll for the great performance that Suniel has given::::man he rocks...and shakes you up...he is just smashingly convincing as a disturbed car-mechanic who has been molested/abused in his child-hood!!! He slips into the role so convincingly and his expression... tenor... everything make your heart go out for the pain he is suffering from his inside...you want to touch him...give him solace.

Shetty’s role is one of the most difficult in the recent times...and to be honest he knew the pitfalls of attempting a role which just might be termed as a ’’sham’’, ’’funny’’, or ’’ridiculous’’or ’’boring’’ or ’’controversial’’... but this guy who has time and again convinced us of his acting skills recently...delivers the knock-out punch without going overboard... The rest of the cast too has provide adequate support.

Now the story line:: well taught at some places...loose at other places....boring at some places....interesting at most places...fast at some places...slow at other places...means- lacks consistency!! The music and sets and colour-combinations...lighting...special effects..all are damn good but the story/plot is not so potent...climax has been loosely written- overall not so impressive!!

Rakht would be remembered more for what it could have been than what it actually is. Too many times in the past we have seen movies which lose out at the box-office because of one loose aspect even if all the other aspects are excellent.

Rakht falls in such categories of movie...Mr. Manjarekar u are able and u can...why didn’t you do it??- thats the question!!
