Generation finally awakens

I watched this movie at Aeren Adlabs in Delhi. Need less to say that I was impressed especially with the first half. The director manages to keep the movie moving and interesting. The blend of the past with the present too is good.

After Aks ( which too was a well made film but something went wrong somewhere) Rakeysh om prakash mehra comes out with a good performance.

The movie is Amir Khan all the way. How effortlessly he manages to rattle off in Punjabi accented hindi just goes on to prove that he is one of the most talented and versatile actors in bollywood today. At the same time the whole cast has pulled off stunning performance. Soha looks pretty. Alice Patten does a comendable job too. Kunal, Sharman Joshi Atul Kulkarni all put in good work at times. Sharman Joshi especially excels in the comic role. Madhavan does his bit in the special appearance but does nt have much to do. Sidharth is good in patches but in cerain scenes especially the emotional one with Anupam Kher he looks highly artificial.

The movie succeeds in portrayin the life in the capital to an extent and the first half is full of energy. But doesnt mean the movie has no weak links.

It does.

The Lathi charge by Police at a peaceful demonstration at India gate initiated by the mother of an airforce personnel seems too far fetched that too under the cameras of NDTV showing the whole thing live. Not possible in todays age.

The whole excercise of killing the Defence minister is made to look too easy.

And again the climax is off mark with the Black cat commandoes comming in and shooting down all the students.

Never the less the movie manages to strike the right chord with the youth and succeeds in putting off a message without too much of preaching. The generation surely awakens and the transformation from care free guys to thinking youth is shown well. Locations shown too are fantastic.

On the whole a good movie which could have become a great one.

P.S : Can any one tell me where the pathshala pond situated. Looked a gr8 place. So does the ruined fort from near where the air force jets are shown to be taking off.

Any information on these too places I ll be thankful.
