It was a trip to Mumbai to meet family and relatives. We needed short break from Mumbai and decided to head to Mahabaleswar. Needed bus tickets and called up tour operators in Mumbai and got so many different fares.
Booking bus tickets online wasnt a new thing in Bangalore as we are used the KSRTC online service since its inception. I was very sceptical of any online bus booking outside of Karnataka. Then I chanced upon Redbus.in. Checked out all the options and then the connection went kaput.
To cut to the chase - called the Mumbai helpline number and asked for ticketing options for Mumbai-Mahabaleswar return. Since I had no clue about the fares and was travelling with 2 kids, needed good seating. redbus called in 2 hours with good options and got middle seats in Mercedes Benz and Volvo.
Tickets came home and paid by cash with a service fee of Rs.25. Would have loved the option of paying the ticket fare by Credit card over the phone. It was worth it and when I travelled on the bus realised that it was packed and were really the best seats.The agent lived up to the commitment of finding good seats both ways.
