I regret having booked a JioPhone during the initial offerings driven by Marketing blitz of Mukesh Ambani and his clan. Only after taking the delivery I realised that it is not a phone but a junk thrown away in the waste bin by some cheap Chinese company. Practically non of the features originally announced by Jio clan either exists or works It does not have the features of an ordinary features phone and is not supposed to be a smartphone anyways. simple elements like push button sensitivity, screen display, camera functions are extremely poor. Navigation is simply stupid and the firmware resident in it is highly unstable. These flaws together with very poor Jio network on PAN India basis makes the investment a great liability. To top it up its sales and service functions are practically non existent. A Jio dealer unashamedly confirms that his responsibility is over once the phone is handed over. Even a warranty slip is not furnished. The dealer says, if you have a problem go to the Service Center. My dealer even is not in a position to provide the Service Center’s address or phone number. It is claimed by Ambani that the deposit will be refunded after three years on return of the device. Beware! nothing like that is going to happen. Where will you go to collect the refund? The dealer, who has sold the phone to you, is going to completely wash off his hand.
Some people like me made blunder by falling prey to high intensity marketing tamasha of the Ambanis. These were all false promises. If you are mulling an idea of going for a Jio connection, my sincere advice is please refrain from it. Better offers are on the table from the likes of Airtel or even BSNL. Pick one of these. These companies are more trustworthy than Ambanis.
