RIM has come a long way in terms of service in telecom segment.
The Ambanis have promoted it with a vengenace. They started off by giving free airtime for almost 6 months during which they started the Dhirubai Ambani Pioneer scheme.
Firstly let me tell you why I dont use Reliance - I use tata Indicom for specific reasons.
You can’t buy handsets from anywhere else in the market - only RIM outlets and delares. They had hyped and the service has a wide network across the country. Reliance took the trouble of putting up a solid network across the country therefore we can get connectivity almost anywhere across urban and semi urban India.
They offer lots of handset options unlike Indicom which hsa about 4 - 5 models.
The catch comes later. Reliance imports handsets in bulk so when they sell to you they make about 30 - 40 % profit straight away. Next the tarrifs though the same acros Tata and reliance Reliance offers the famous 40 paise per minute wit hits own network whic is violation of TRAI. It is not easy to get RIM signals from other phones when you call up Reliance. The call failure is higher in Reliance than Tata. Their customer service is well setup even then the billing is crazy.
Indicom the billing is more precise. If you lose your handset then you can claim insurance nad then get a new one with a differential payment. But at the same time so man people have take nte RIM phone for nefarious purposes. Its so easy get a phone for even 1 rupee- such crazy schemes are ther an then use het phone for the purpose you need and throw it away. There is no proper tracking of the orginal applicant, . I know people who use RIM and the phone is not even belonging to even a family member!!! So think about what you want.
Next if you dont want the connection you have to pay a penalty fee for every remaining month of your finance scheme !! so that will force you to rethink your idea of closing the connection if you paid for it on the installment plans
