It is Saturday night and 5 minutes until date time. You reach for that perfect shade of lipstick to make your look complete. Two hours later you sneak off to the restroom and catch a glance of yourself in the mirror only to discover that your lips have completely disappeared. You dig in your purse to apply more but why bother? It will only be gone in 10 minutes when your meal comes and you begin to eat.
Thanks to Revlons Colorstay Overtime Lipcolor, there is a solution to awkward applications at the dinner table and endless trips to the powder room! Yes! Finally a product that lasts and lasts....and lasts! Not to mention the amazing shine you get from the clear gloss on the other end of the tube.
Colorstay Overtime comes in a thin tube with two wand applicators. It is two step process:
The color. This is applied first and must dry for about a minute. It feels dry and very different than any other product I have ever tried. It takes some getting used to.
The clear gloss. Once this is applied, the dry feel of the color seems to go away. After I have applied the color, I only need to continue to apply the gloss throughout the evening for about the next 6-8 hours because the color lasts for a very long time!
It is important to make sure that the color completely dries before applying the gloss, otherwise the color becomes flaky or cakey. It takes some experimenting but once you get the hang of it, this product is amazing. It is perfect for any time that you do not want to or simply can not reapply your lipstick throughout the evening. There are also wonderful nude shades for day that give you a polished but natural look. I can put it on in the morning and the color lasts until 5PM. The only downside is that you do need to keep reapplying the gloss. If you dont, the color gets cakey as I mentioned earlier.
A warning for those of you who are prone to fever blisters, make sure you keep your lips moist as this lipstick is drying. I have had to keep lipbalm by my nightstand since using this lipstick.
Bottom line, the pros outweigh the cons and since first trying this lipstick, I have purchased it in 8 colors.
